NGI Goes to Boston

On April 14th, NGI represented the West Boylston Water District in discussions with DCR, DEP and others on water issues facing the Town. The meeting was hosted by Majority Leader Senator Harriette L. Chandler (D-Worcester) and attended by: Jay Billings and Joel Frisch of NGI; Michael Coveney (Superintendent), Stanley Szczurko, Jr. (Commissioner), James LaMountain (Commissioner), Robert Bryngelson, Jr. (Commissioner) and Valmore Pruneau (Commissioner) all of the West Boylston Water District (all of the above pictured below); DCR Commissioner Mr. Jack Murray, DCR Division of Water Supply Protection Director Mr. Jonathan Yeo and Wachusett Reservoir and Sudbury Reservoir Section Regional Director Mr. John Scannell; Marielle Stone of MassDEP, and others.

The purpose of the meeting was to request permission to investigate alternative sources of water for the Town. Currently the wells serving the Town of West Boylston contain Manganese at levels in excess of the recommended concentration. Prior to making the commitment to construct water treatment facilities to address this issue, the Water District is seeking to identify an additional source of water that won’t require treatment. Prior to the meeting Senator Chandler graciously lead the group on a brief a tour of the House and Senate Chambers.
